Data sources feed Echoes with your engineering-related data. Two kinds of data sources exist:

- [Integrations](docId\:n-7mj2eHLg3giO5544LoT) are builtin plug-ins connecting Echoes to your product development tools. They are the preferred way to integrate Echoes as they don't require any maintenance past the initial setup.

- [Ingestions API](docId\:vfWrfNPP-yoYIhxf4c_mL) exposed by Echoes to hook into your software development chain. They are required for aspects of the engineering workflow that are non-standardized. For example, [deployments](docId\:Hx6_LKqJNBZgy8wk82b3N) are dependent on a team's process and cannot be easily inferred through integrations.
